Seat Formentor Hybrid Tailgate Problem
Summary of the thread
The 2023 Seat Formentor hybrid experienced an issue where the automatic tailgate wouldn't open fully, and an error was recorded in the system. The workshop suspected a defective cable or plug connection to the tailgate motor's hall sensor. A similar problem was resolved by checking the sensor wiring, which was confirmed to be the cause. After addressing the defective sensor wiring, the tailgate functioned correctly again.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'sensor wiring', are you referring to the vehicle sensor that detects if something is blocking the open tailgate, or something else entirely? Is there an easy way to check the plug connection, or is it buried deep?

Yeah, I meant the vehicle sensor that controls the open tailgate. The plug connection can be a pain to get to, buried behind some trim. If you aren't comfortable poking around, I'd just take it in. It was the sensor wiring in my case, and the garage sorted it quickly.

Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. It was indeed a defective sensor wiring in the automatic tailgate. 95€ later, and the tailgate is working perfectly again. Thanks for your help!

Sounds like a faulty tailgate hall sensor. I had a similar issue with my Formentor. Check the sensor wiring to the tailgate motor first. Could be a loose plug connection.
