Seat Formentor Oil Pressure Warning

My 2021 Seat Formentor with a gasoline engine is throwing up some concerning warnings. At 74368 km, the oil pressure warning lamp lights up, accompanied by a warning light in the speedometer. I suspect oil contamination might be the issue. Has anyone else experienced this? What could be the likely cause? The engine oil level appears to be normal, so I don't believe it to be an oil leak. I'm thinking it might be related to the oil filter.

I also have a Formentor. A similar thing happened to me a while ago. The oil pressure warning lamp lit up, which made me quite nervous. Any sign of an oil leak? When was the last time you changed your engine oil and oil filter? What oil did you use?

No visible oil leak that I can detect. I religiously follow the maintenance schedule, or at least I try to. Now that I think about it, I am 4000km over the service interval. I usually get the oil and filter changed at the dealership, so I assume they're using the correct oil spec. Could exceeding the maintenance interval cause oil contamination and trigger the oil pressure warning?

Yes, exceeding the maintenance interval can absolutely cause oil contamination. When engine oil degrades, it loses its ability to properly lubricate and protect the engine's components. This can lead to increased friction, wear, and the formation of sludge and deposits. The oil filter can also become clogged, restricting oil flow and causing the oil pressure to drop. I'd recommend getting it checked out at a workshop asap.

Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. Exceeding the maintenance interval was indeed the culprit. Oil was contaminated, and the oil filter was clogged. They changed the engine oil, replaced the oil filter, and reset the service indicator. Cost me 165€. Thanks for the advice!
