Seat Formentor start stop issue
Summary of the thread
The Seat Formentor's start-stop system issue, where the engine shuts off at lights with a warning light, is likely due to a battery problem. The system is sensitive to voltage drops, and a diminished battery capacity can affect its functionality, especially in vehicles with high mileage. A professional battery test and replacement are recommended to resolve the issue and prevent further strain on components like the starter motor.

Regarding the starter motor, I haven't noticed anything unusual. But, is it possible that even if the starter seems okay, the battery is still weak enough to affect the start-stop? Does the Eco mode need a super healthy battery to work properly?

Even if the starter motor performance appears normal, the start-stop system is more sensitive to voltage drops and battery health. The Eco mode demands a very healthy battery to ensure a reliable engine start after shutdown, and to power auxiliary systems when the engine is off. Given your vehicle's age and mileage, and the error code, have the battery professionally tested. A replacement is probably needed. Neglecting this could strain other components, such as the starter motor. A workshop visit is advisable.

I got it fixed. The workshop confirmed it was the battery. A new battery and a reset, and the start-stop is working again. Total cost was 290€ Thanks for the help.

The symptoms you describe suggest a battery issue. Given the mileage, it's plausible the battery's capacity has diminished, affecting the Eco mode. Factors could include frequent short journeys, which prevent the battery from fully recharging. Has there been any decline in the engine start performance recently, such as prolonged cranking of the starter motor?
