Seat Formentor Steering Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Seat Formentor owner experienced steering issues, including increased effort to turn the wheel and severe vibrations, suspecting a faulty steering angle sensor or coding error. The problem was confirmed by an error code indicating an implausible signal from the sensor, suggesting a communication or calibration issue. A mechanic diagnosed and recoded the steering angle sensor, resolving the problem and restoring normal driving conditions.

I did use a scanner, and it showed a code related to the steering angle sensor, something about an implausible signal. What exactly does the coding of the angle sensor do? Is it something that could have happened on its own, or is it more likely a software glitch?

An implausible signal from the steering angle sensor suggests a communication error or calibration problem. The coding makes sure the sensor communicates accurately with the car's computer. While it's less common, it could be a software glitch. Given the symptoms, a visit to a workshop for a proper diagnosis of the steering column is advisable. They can check the sensor itself and its connections.

You were right! I took it to a local mechanic, and they ran diagnostics and recoded the steering angle sensor. Apparently, the traction control was going crazy because of it. Cost me 195€, but now it drives perfectly. Thanks so much for the help!

That sounds like a faulty steering angle sensor. Increased steering effort and vibration can point to that. Have you checked for any error codes using an OBD2 scanner? Faulty coding could be the cause, as you suspect. Automotive sensors like the steering sensor are crucial for systems like traction control.
