Seat Ibiza ABS Fault

My 2004 Seat Ibiza with a gasoline engine has developed a fault. The ABS lamp on the dashboard keeps lighting up, and I'm experiencing traction problems and ABS failure. I suspect a defective control unit is the likely cause.

Sounds like a faulty ABS sensor or control unit. I had a similar problem with my Ibiza. The ABS light came on, and the speedometer would sometimes drop to zero. Also, the odometer wasn't recording mileage correctly when the ABS light was on. Have you checked the ABS sensors at each wheel? Sometimes they just get dirty or damaged.

Where exactly was the issue on your car? Did you have the same problem with traction control and the speedometer on the dashboard?

Yes, same symptoms. Traction control light was also on because it relies on the ABS system. Speedometer would flicker or drop to zero. It turned out to be an issue with the ABS control unit itself. I'd recommend getting it properly diagnosed, but prepare for a potentially expensive repair or replacement.

Thanks. I took it to a shop, and they confirmed the ABS control unit was faulty. Cost me about 1000€ to replace, but everything's working again.
