Seat Ibiza battery drain issue

I'm experiencing a rather concerning issue with my 2007 Seat Ibiza, gasoline engine, and I'm hoping someone might offer some insight. The car has 125360 km on the clock. Recently, I've been plagued by a heavily discharged battery. The symptoms include an error message appearing in the speedometer, weak or flickering lights, and an error stored in the error memory. Additionally, the battery feels weak when starting the engine. I suspect a defective battery sensor might be the culprit, leading to a constant battery drain. Has anyone encountered something similar? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I had a similar issue with my Ibiza. The electrical system was acting up, and I kept getting a low battery warning. Have you checked the battery terminals for corrosion or loose connections? That can sometimes cause a battery drain.

Thanks for the advice. I did check the battery terminals, and they seem clean and tight. Could it be anything else? I've read something about a defective battery sensor causing similar problems. Did you ever experience any error messages in the speedometer or flickering lights before the battery died completely?

Yes, those symptoms sound familiar. In my case, it turned out to be the battery sensor. It was causing a constant drain, even when the car was off. If you suspect the sensor, it's probably best to get it checked by a workshop. They can properly diagnose the electrical system and confirm the issue.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It seems I was right about the battery sensor. I took it to the workshop, and they confirmed it was faulty. After replacing it, the car is working perfectly again. The whole repair, including the new sensor and labor, cost me 315€. Hopefully, this will be the end of my battery drain issues!
