Seat Ibiza brake light error
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Seat Ibiza diesel was experiencing a brake light error, with the brake lights not functioning and an error message on the dashboard. The initial suspicion was a faulty brake light switch. However, it was suggested to check if the brake pedal was slightly depressed, possibly due to a floor mat or resting foot. This turned out to be the issue, and once corrected, the error was resolved without any cost.

Yeah, the error comes back immediately after clearing it. Bulbs are good. I'm thinking it's the switch, but how sensitive are these things? I mean, could it be something super simple?

If the error reappears immediately and the bulbs are fine, it's highly likely the switch. Before replacing it, double-check the pedal isn't slightly depressing the switch plunger. Sometimes a floor mat or even just resting your foot lightly on the pedal can cause it. Otherwise, consider having a workshop take a quick look.

Dude, you nailed it! Turns out, I was being a total idiot. Foot wasn't fully off the brake pedal. Cleared the code and all's good. Zero cost fix! Thanks for the help!

Error codes and brake light issues are common. You said the error's in the memory. Is the error active, or is it a historic one? Have you checked the brake light bulbs themselves?
