Seat Ibiza central locking and starting issues

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2006 Seat Ibiza diesel. An error is stored in the error memory, which I suspect is related to the bumper antenna. The unlocking and locking functions no longer work correctly, and the engine can no longer be started without the key in the ignition lock. My initial assessment points towards a defective cable or plug connection of the component. Could this be the cause? Any ideas what to look for regarding antenna replacement? Thank you in advance for your help.

Whoa, sounds like the exact same thing I had with my Ibiza! Seriously annoying, right? For me, the central locking packed it in completely and the radio reception was awful. I bet it's the connection to your car radio antenna. Check the fm antenna cable and the automotive antenna plug connection. Those Ibizas are notorious for bad connections there. A bit of contact cleaner might do the trick, but don't get your hopes up too high.

Thanks for your quick reply! When you say 'connection', do you mean the physical plug itself, or the cable leading to the bumper antenna? And did you also have the starting issue, where the car wouldn't start without the key in the ignition?

Yep, I meant the physical plug, especially where it connects to the bumper antenna. Give the antenna replacement a try. As for the starting issue, yes! That's how I knew it was definitely the antenna. The immobilizer uses it! Honestly, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. It's probably a broken wire inside the insulation. Messing with that can cause more damage, and it's tough to find without the right tools.

The Seat garage confirmed a defective cable to the bumper antenna. The antenna repair plus labor will be 95€, thanks again for the help!
