Seat Ibiza Diesel engine issue
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Seat Ibiza diesel with 176,716 km is experiencing reduced engine power, poor response, a whistling noise during acceleration, stalling at idle, and increased fuel consumption. The initial suspicion is a boost pressure actuator fault. A possible cause is identified as a boost leak in the turbo system, which can be checked by inspecting hoses and connections for damage or looseness. The issue is ultimately resolved by replacing the electrical bypass valve, restoring the vehicle's performance.

When you say 'boost leak,' what exactly does that mean, and how would I check the hoses myself? I'm not super familiar with the turbo system.

A boost leak is when pressurized air escapes from the turbo system before it reaches the engine. That causes a loss of power. As for checking the hoses, visually inspect them for cracks or loose connections. If you aren't comfortable doing that, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. It's likely an actuator fault. The turbocharger can be damaged if the boost control isn't working right.

It turned out to be the electrical bypass valve, as suspected. Got it replaced for 250€. Runs like new now, thanks again for your help!

Sounds like a boost leak in your turbo system. I had something similar with my Ibiza. Check the hoses and connections around the turbocharger. Is the whistling noise constant or only under acceleration?
