Seat Ibiza Diesel Engine Overheating

Coolant level seems fine, but I'll double-check. Fuel efficiency seems normal too. Where exactly was your coolant leak located when you had the overheating issue?

Okay, so my leak was a bit of a pain to find. It was on one of the hoses connected to the radiator, near the air intake. Small crack, causing a slow leak. If your coolant level is stable and fuel efficiency is normal, the bypass valve error could be a red herring. Maybe get it checked at a workshop; they can properly diagnose it. It could be a sensor issue, or as you said, a 'consequential error'. Don't keep driving it with the engine overheating, though.

Thanks for the help. The bypass valve error was a ghost. After a thorough check, it was a simple coolant leak causing the engine overheating. Fixed the leak and all is good. No cost!

I had a similar scare with my Ibiza, though it's an older model. Engine overheating and a warning light. Check your coolant level first thing. If it's low, top it off and keep an eye on it. Could be a leak somewhere. Also, have you noticed any change in your fuel efficiency lately?
