Seat Ibiza Diesel Engine Troubles

Is the cam sensor the same as the crank sensor? I'm not super familiar with all the engine bits. I thought the mechanic mentioned the crankshaft position sensor. Is the cam sensor something different, and could that also cause the engine light and the bad engine synchronization?

The cam sensor is different from the crank sensor, but they work together for engine synchronization. If the crank sensor is faulty, that would definitely cause the issues you're describing. With those symptoms and the error code, it’s probably best to take it to a trusted mechanic. They can properly diagnose and replace the crank sensor. It could be something else, but it sounds like you're on the right track. Better safe than sorry.

Took the Ibiza to the shop, and it was the crank sensor. Cost me 340€, but the engine light is off and it's running like new again. Thanks.

That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Seat Leon, though the engine light wasn't always on. Have you checked the cam sensor? Sometimes, it can cause similar problems, like the car not knowing when to inject fuel properly. It's like the conductor is out of sync with the orchestra.
