Seat Ibiza Diesel Oil Level Sensor Issue

My 2006 Seat Ibiza diesel is throwing up an oil level sensor error. Mileage is nudging 175000 km. The error message pops up in the speedo, there's an error stored in the memory, the oil warning light is blazing, and sometimes the oil pressure lamp joins the party. I suspect a faulty sensor or wiring. Anyone dealt with this? The oil detection system is driving me nuts!

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my Ibiza, though it was a while back. Same oil signal issues and the dreaded oil pressure light. Have you checked the basics like, is the oil level actually correct? I know it sounds dumb, but sometimes the simplest things are overlooked. Also, have you tried clearing the error code to see if it comes back immediately?

Yeah, oil level is spot on, checked it several times. I cleared the error code, but it reappears almost instantly after starting the engine. You mentioned a similar issue. Was it definitely the sensor itself in your case, or could it be something else?

Right, so you've checked the level and cleared the code, and it's back. Okay, sounds like it's more than just a glitch. In my case, yes, it was the sensor in the end, but the mechanic initially suspected a wiring issue. Given the age of our cars, a dodgy connection is a prime suspect. Honestly, I'd get it checked out by a professional, especially if the oil pressure light is coming on. Think of it like your central heating: a small leak can become a major flood. It might be a simple fix, but you don't want to risk damaging the engine.

Cheers for the confirmation. Dropped it off at the workshop today. They checked the wiring to the oil level sensor, found a corroded connector, cleaned it up, and the error's gone. Bill came to 95€. Sorted!
