Seat Ibiza Diesel power loss and hissing sound

I'm experiencing a strange problem with my 2015 Seat Ibiza diesel. I've noticed reduced engine power, rough engine running, and a noticeable jerking when accelerating. There's also a loud hissing sound when I accelerate, and the fuel consumption seems higher. Could this be related to the intake manifold flap control, maybe a defective switch? Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Seat Ibiza diesel is experiencing reduced engine power, rough running, jerking during acceleration, and a loud hissing sound, along with increased fuel consumption. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the air intake system, possibly involving the intake manifold flap control or a defective switch. The hissing sound indicates an air leak, which can significantly impact engine performance. The recommended solution is to have the intake manifold flap actuator inspected and potentially replaced, which resolved the issue in this case.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds very similar to an issue I had with my Ibiza. The hissing is a telltale sign of air intake problems. Have you checked for any engine misfire codes? The intake manifold is a common culprit for reduced power in these cars. Have you tried cleaning the air intake at all?

I haven't checked for engine misfire codes myself, just noticed the symptoms. Cleaning the air intake is something I could try myself. Where exactly is the intake manifold located, and is it a difficult job?

Yeah, the hissing definitely points to an air leak somewhere in the air intake system, which can really hurt engine performance. If you're not comfortable digging into the engine, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the issue and replace the intake manifold flap actuator if needed. That fixed the exact same symptoms for me.

Thanks for the help. I took it to a local garage and they confirmed it was the intake manifold flap actuator. Repair cost me 465€, but the car is running smoothly again.
