Seat Ibiza fuel consumption and starting issues

I am writing to seek your expertise regarding a perplexing issue with my 2015 Seat Ibiza, equipped with a gasoline engine. The vehicle currently has 123801 km on the odometer. I have observed a significant increase in fuel consumption, coupled with difficulties in starting the engine. Preliminary diagnostics suggest a defective throttle valve. While investigating potential causes, I suspect a malfunctioning accelerator pedal module may be the root of the problem. Could this be a plausible cause for the engine throttle malfunction?

High engine idle and poor starting could point to several things, but a faulty throttle body is plausible. I seem to recall having similar issues with my Ibiza a while back. Did you notice any hesitation during acceleration, or any unusual readings from your engine throttle position sensor?

Interesting. When your Ibiza had similar symptoms, was it also related to the engine throttle or the control valve itself? Did you perhaps measure the resistance of the accelerator pedal module?

It's hard to be definitive without a proper diagnostic, but my issue also involved the throttle body and ultimately traced back to a faulty sensor reading from what I remember. I'd advise getting it checked by a workshop with proper diagnostic tools. They can pinpoint the exact cause, whether it's the throttle body itself, the accelerator pedal module, or something else entirely. It is not always easy to identify the root cause.

Many thanks for the insight. I took it to a trusted workshop, and it turns out the accelerator pedal module was indeed defective, causing the throttle valve to malfunction. After replacement, the high fuel consumption and poor starting issues are resolved. The total repair cost was 205€. Thanks again!
