Seat Ibiza Generator Suspected Faulty

I'm experiencing some trouble with my 2004 Seat Ibiza, gasoline engine, with about 106123 km on the clock. I suspect the generator is faulty. The symptoms include reduced engine power, a warning light, poor starting, and weak lights. There's an error stored in the error memory. Could this be a defective generator?

Sounds like a classic alternator issue. I had something similar happen on my Ibiza. Have you checked the battery voltage with a multimeter? What error codes are stored in the ECU?

I haven't checked the battery voltage. Where would I find the error codes? I'm not very familiar with car electronics.

Yes, based on those symptoms and the stored error, it almost certainly points to a defective alternator. Since you're not familiar with checking the codes yourself, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to confirm the diagnosis and get a quote for replacement. Better safe than sorry when it comes to car electronics.

The workshop confirmed the generator was defective. The final bill was 960€. Thanks for the help.
