Seat Ibiza Power Seat Issue

I'm having a nightmare with the passenger seat in my 2007 Seat Ibiza (gasoline engine). The electric seat adjustment isn't working at all. Plugged it into a code reader and it's showing an error. I'm guessing it's something to do with the seat motor or seat switch, but I'm no mechanic. Has anyone had this before? Any ideas where to start looking?

Summary of the thread

The conversation revolves around a problem with the electric seat adjustment in a 2007 Seat Ibiza, which was not functioning and showed an error code. The issue was suspected to be related to the seat motor or switch. A suggestion was made to check the seat harness for loose or corroded connections and to consider the possibility of a weak battery affecting the seat's operation. Ultimately, replacing the battery resolved the issue, restoring the seat's functionality.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

That sounds awfully familiar. I had something similar happen in my Ibiza too. The power seats just wouldn't budge, and the error code was driving me nuts. Did you check the seat harness under the seat? Sometimes those connections can get loose or corroded, causing electrical gremlins. Also, have you had any issues starting the car lately? A weak battery can cause electrical problems like this. It's like when your phone's battery is low, and it starts doing crazy things.

Cheers for the reply! Yeah, I had a quick look at the seat harness, but didn't see anything obvious. You reckon a dodgy battery could actually stop the seat adjustment from working completely? The car starts okay, but I guess it could be on its way out. Was it the same for you?

Yup, sounds almost identical to what I went through. My car started fine for a while, even with the electric seat playing up. The mechanic mentioned something about the battery not providing enough juice to run everything properly, especially when it's cold. He said a heavily discharged or defective battery can cause electrical issues with power seats. Honestly, I'd get the battery checked properly. If it's not that, then it could be something more complicated with the seat motor or wiring. If it is the seat motor, it's a more costly repair. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. It'll save you a lot of time and potential headaches.

Right, I got it sorted. You were spot on about the battery thing. Got a new one fitted and the seat's working again. 290€ lighter, but at least my passenger can get comfy now. Thanks for the help!
