Seat Inca active air flap fault

Alright so I've got a bit of a head scratcher. My Seat Inca with a gasoline engine has the check engine light on, and it seems to be overheating. I ran a scan, and it's throwing up an active air flap fault. From what I've read, it might be a defective electromechanism. Anyone else had this issue before?

Summary of the thread

The conversation revolves around a Seat Inca experiencing a check engine light and overheating, attributed to an active air flap fault. The issue is suspected to be a defective electromechanism, possibly involving a jammed or unresponsive flap motor. Suggested solutions include checking the air intake flap for movement, inspecting the wiring for any faulty connections, and considering professional repair if necessary. Ultimately, the problem was resolved by replacing the flap motor at a workshop.

Hmm, active air flap fault on a Seat Inca... That's a bit of a pain. Is the air intake flap actually moving freely? Maybe try manually moving it to see if it's stuck. Also, have you checked the wiring to the flap motor? Could be a dodgy connection. Is the engine running hotter than usual?

Good shout on checking the wiring, I'll give that a look. Where exactly is the flap motor located though? I'm not entirely sure where to find it on the air intake. And yeah, it's definitely running hotter, that's why I'm worried about the overheating. Should I be looking at the cooling system too?

Sounds like the flap motor then, especially if it's overheating and the check engine light is on. I'd say it's likely jammed or not responding. Given the symptoms and error code, I reckon you're probably looking at a replacement. Honestly, might be worth getting a garage to take a look unless you're confident with that kind of job.

Alright, thanks for the confirmation. I ended up taking it to a workshop, and you were spot on. It was the flap motor. Cost me 590€ to get it sorted. Ouch! But at least the check engine light is off and it's not overheating anymore.
