Seat Inca automatic transmission shifting issues

Battery voltage, huh? I hadn't considered that. How would low voltage cause the automatic gearbox to go into emergency mode, and give me transmission problems?

Yeah, it sounds weird, but the computer that controls your automatic transmission needs stable voltage to operate correctly. When the voltage drops, it can cause the solenoids inside the transmission to not function properly, leading to erratic shifting and eventually emergency mode. If the battery is weak, it might be worth getting it tested. Otherwise, a proper diagnostic at a workshop would be a good idea. They can check the automatic transmission for error codes and pinpoint the issue.

Thanks so much for your help! It turned out to be low voltage, just like you suspected. I had the hydraulic fluid in the automatic gearbox changed and the battery checked. Cost me about 240€ but now it's shifting smoothly again. I appreciate you sharing your experience!

Whoa, sounds rough! I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra, though it wasn't quite the same. Mine was jerking like crazy between 2nd and 3rd, and the transmission light would flicker. Have you checked your battery voltage? Seems weird, but undervoltage can mess with the automatic transmission control unit and cause all sorts of weird shifting problems. Automatic transmissions are very sensitive. Does it feel like a slipping transmission?
