Seat Inca Bumper Antenna Issues

I am at my wit's end with my 2003 Seat Inca with a gasoline engine. It's got about 89595 km on the clock. I'm getting an error stored in the error memory related to the bumper antenna. Here's the kicker: the unlocking and locking don't work properly anymore, and I can't even start the engine without the key physically in the ignition lock! I suspect it's a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone else experienced something similar with their automotive antenna causing such widespread signal interference?

Whoa, sounds like a real headache! I had something similar happen with my Inca. The radio signal was all over the place, and the remote locking started acting up. I never thought it could be related to the car antenna! I'm not an expert but maybe check the connections to your fm antenna? Where is the automotive antenna located in Inca?

Interesting! You mentioned your radio signal being all over the place. Did you also experience issues with starting the engine? And where exactly should I be looking for these connections? I am not 100% sure where the car antenna is located on my Inca.

No engine starting issues for me, thankfully! Just the radio signal cutting out and the remote playing up. But yeah, sounds like you've got the same root cause, just affecting more systems. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop; messing with the car antenna and wiring can be tricky. They should be able to pinpoint the exact issue with the cable or plug.

Just a note that the problem is now resolved. It was indeed the bumper antenna cable, as suspected. The workshop confirmed it had a defective plug connection. After replacing the cable and plug, everything is working as it should! Cost me 95€, which I think is reasonable. Thanks again for your help!
