Seat Inca clutch switch problems

My 2003 Seat Inca, diesel engine, is giving me fits. The error memory shows a fault related to the clutch switch. Now, the gear selection display is useless, the cruise control is dead, and sometimes it won't even start. Could a faulty clutch switch really cause all this? I've read the cable or plug connection might be defective. Has anyone else experienced this?

Clutch switch issues, huh? Sounds familiar. I drive an Inca too, and I had similar symptoms a while back. The cruise control thing is a dead giveaway. Did you check the switch itself? Is it visibly damaged or corroded?

Thanks for the quick reply. When you say 'check the switch,' what exactly do you mean? Just visually inspect it, or is there some kind of test I can do?

Visually inspect it, sure, but a proper test would involve a multimeter to check for continuity when the pedal is pressed and released. Honestly, though, given all those symptoms pointing to the clutch switch, and the error code, it probably is the culprit. If you're not comfortable with electrical testing, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They'll diagnose it properly and replace the switch if needed.

You were spot on. It was indeed the clutch switch. Replacement cost 95€. Everything is working perfectly now. Thanks a lot.
