Seat Inca Diesel Battery Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Seat Inca diesel with 156,654 km is experiencing weak battery performance and flickering lights. The initial suspicion is a faulty battery sensor. Suggestions include checking the battery voltage with a multimeter and having the battery load tested at an auto parts store to determine if it's holding a charge. Ultimately, a professional diagnostic check is recommended, leading to the identification and replacement of a faulty battery sensor, resolving the issue.

Interesting, hadn't thought about the battery itself being the problem. Where exactly did you measure the battery voltage? And what kind of battery testing are you talking about? Is that something I can do myself, or should I take it to a shop?

Yep, I measured directly at the battery terminals. As for the battery testing, some auto parts stores offer a free car battery load test. They can tell you if it's holding a charge properly. Honestly, if you're seeing those symptoms and suspect the sensor, it might be worth getting a professional vehicle diagnostics check anyway. Playing the guessing game can get expensive fast! Better safe than sorry, right?

Big thanks for the help! I ended up taking it to a mechanic, and you were spot on. It was the battery sensor. Cost me 315€ to get it sorted, but at least my Inca is running smoothly again.

Whoa, flickering lights and a weak start sound familiar! I had similar issues with my old Seat (not an Inca, but same brand). First things first, did you check the battery voltage with a multimeter while the engine is running? What readings are you getting? Also, have you had the car battery properly tested? It could be a dying battery causing the sensor to throw a weird reading. Just thinking out loud here, you know?
