Seat Inca Diesel Engine Stalling at Idle
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Seat Inca with a diesel engine is experiencing stalling at idle and an illuminated engine light. The suspected cause is a malfunctioning tank ventilation valve, potentially due to clogged hoses. This issue can create a vacuum, disrupting the fuel-air mixture and leading to stalling. The recommended solution is to have a professional automotive repair service inspect and possibly replace the valve and clear any blockages.

Thanks for the input! When you say 'tank ventilation valve', is that difficult to access? Also, how would a clogged hose cause the engine to stall? Just trying to understand the whole system a little better.

A clogged hose prevents the tank from venting properly. This creates a vacuum, messing with the fuel-air mixture and causing the engine to stall, especially at idle. If you aren't experienced with automotive repair, you should take it to a workshop. They can confirm the diagnosis and replace the valve if needed.

It was the tank ventilation valve, hoses were totally clogged as suspected. Automotive repair cost me 175€. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like a faulty tank ventilation valve. I had a similar problem with my Seat, the engine light was on and the car would stall. Check the hoses connected to the valve, those can get clogged up pretty easily, affecting the pressure sensor. Is the check engine light on?
