Seat Inca Diesel Engine Trouble

My 2001 Seat Inca diesel is giving me headaches. It won't start sometimes, stalls at idle, and the check engine light is on. It also seems to be running rough and drinking more fuel than usual. Error memory suggests a fuel pump issue. Anyone else seen this? Could it be a simple cable or plug connection problem?

Sounds like a real pain. I had a similar issue with my old Renault Clio, although it was a petrol engine. Symptoms were almost identical: engine stalling, check engine light... Have you checked the basics like fuel filter and the fuel pump relay? Could be something simple before you start tearing things apart. Is the gasoline delivery even?

Fuel filter's new, relay seems fine. You mentioned a dodgy connection on your Clio. Was it obvious, or did it take some digging to find?

Mine was a corroded connector on the fuel pump wiring harness. Not immediately obvious, needed a good look. But honestly, with those symptoms and the error code, I'd get it properly diagnosed. Could be a faulty pump, but a bad connection is definitely a possibility. Maybe time to visit a workshop, before the car performance gets any worse?

Alright, took it to the shop. Turns out it was indeed a dodgy connection to the fuel pump, just like you suspected. 95€ later and she's running smooth again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
