Seat Inca Diesel OBD Error

My 2001 Seat Inca diesel is throwing a wobbly. I'm getting an error stored in the error memory, and a message on the speedometer saying the system readiness check is incomplete. This all started after I plugged in an OBD2 reader. Now I'm worried it won't pass the emissions test. The error memory is clear, but the error message on the speedometer remains. Anyone else run into this?

I have experience with similar issues on my Seat Inca, although I am not sure about the production year of my vehicle. The error you are encountering, specifically an incomplete OBD readiness status, often occurs after a diagnostic scan. OBD, or On-Board Diagnostics, is a standardized system for vehicle self-diagnosis and reporting. When a scan is performed, sometimes the system readiness flags are reset, requiring a 'drive cycle' to be completed before they are set again. A drive cycle involves specific driving conditions that allow the car's computer to re-evaluate all systems. Have you attempted a drive cycle?

Drive cycle, eh? I've heard the term but never really understood what it entails. Any specific driving patterns I should be following? Does it matter if I'm mostly doing city driving?

I experienced the exact same scenario with my Inca. After the diagnostic scan, the OBD readiness monitors were not set, triggering the error. Unfortunately, the specific drive cycle varies by manufacturer and sometimes even by model year. Given the age of your vehicle, finding the exact drive cycle procedure might be difficult. If the error persists, and you have an upcoming vehicle inspection, your best course of action is to consult a workshop. They will ensure your vehicle's readiness monitors are appropriately configured.

Vehicle inspection passed today, no issues. Computer reset itself after a few drive cycles. Thanks for the input!
