Seat Inca Gearbox Issue Resolved

My 2002 Seat Inca diesel is exhibiting a strange issue. The gear shift indicator in the speedometer isn't functioning, and the gears won't engage. Diagnostic check shows an error, and the gearbox seems to be slipping with grinding noises. I suspect the control unit is defective.

Had something similar on my Inca. Is the instrument panel showing the correct gear? Maybe a sensor problem with the gear selector itself?

When you say sensor problem, do you mean within the gearbox or related to the electronic display?

More likely the connection between gear selector and the instrument panel. Although, the fault code points to a control unit issue. Probably best to get it checked at a workshop.

Appreciate the insight. It turned out the control unit was indeed the culprit. Cost about 1000€ to replace. All good now.
