Seat Inca oil pressure warning light
Summary of the thread
The core problem was the oil pressure warning light appearing on a 2003 Seat Inca, potentially due to oil contamination. Possible causes included exceeding the maintenance interval and using incorrect oil additives. Suggested solutions involved checking the oil color, inspecting for leaks, and using a mechanical gauge to verify oil pressure. Ultimately, the issue was resolved by changing the oil and filter, which turned off the warning light.

Thanks for your reply. I did check the oil color, and it seems darker than usual. I haven't noticed any oil leak so far. What do you mean by checking the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge? I'm not sure how to do that.

Yes, the darker oil color is definitely a sign. By checking the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge, I mean bypassing the car's sensor and using a direct reading tool to see the actual pressure. However, given the oil color and the warning light, it is probably best to get it checked at a workshop. It does sound like oil contamination due to the exceeded maintenance interval. Continuing to drive with contaminated oil can cause serious engine damage, so I would recommend getting it sorted quickly.

Thank you for your help. I took it to a workshop and it turned out that I had indeed exceeded the maintenance interval, and the oil was heavily contaminated. After an oil and filter change, the warning light is now off. The final repair cost was 165€.

That sounds like a concerning issue. I once experienced something similar with my Inca. The oil pressure warning lamp lit up, and I was quite worried. Have you checked the oil color? Is there any sign of an oil leak? Perhaps the oil contamination is linked to that. Maybe also consider if you've been using the correct oil additives. It might be worth checking the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge to rule out a faulty sensor.
