OBD2 scanner? Where do I plug that in, and what am I looking for exactly?

The OBD2 port is usually near the steering wheel. You're looking for error codes related to the auxiliary heater. A defective glow plug is a likely cause, given the symptoms. Considering your expertise level, taking it to a workshop is advisable. This can ensure correct diagnostics and repair, preventing further damage to the heating system. You described symptoms which are commonly related to the heater core or the heat control. Have you checked those, or do you think the glow plug is more probable?

OK, heater's fixed. Glow plug was the culprit. Cost me 440€. Thanks for the help.

Have you checked the error codes using an OBD2 scanner? Is the auxiliary heater receiving power? Are there any unusual noises coming from the heating system?
