Seat Inca rough running misfire
Summary of the thread
The 2003 Seat Inca was experiencing rough running, stalling, and jerking, with a check engine light indicating a misfire. The initial suspicion was an issue with the ignition system, possibly a coil failure. After suggestions to inspect the coil's connector and wiring, it was advised to seek professional help due to the complexity of diagnosing coil issues. The problem was confirmed to be a defective ignition coil, which was replaced, resolving the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply! Spark plugs were replaced about 30000 km ago. I'm not really sure how to check the coil's connector and wiring. Could you give me a bit more detail?

Okay, if the spark plugs are relatively new, a faulty ignition coil is the most likely culprit. Visually inspect the wiring and plug connected to the coil for damage. However, without proper tools and experience, diagnosing a coil failure can be tricky. Given the symptoms and misfire code, I suggest taking it to a workshop to confirm the diagnosis and get it sorted professionally.

Just wanted to say thanks. The shop confirmed it was a defective ignition coil. They replaced it, and now my Inca runs like new. Total cost was 95€, including parts and labor. Thanks a million for your help!

Rough engine running, stalling, check engine light, and jerking all point to a potential ignition system problem. When did you last replace your spark plugs? A failing coil can definitely cause those symptoms. The 'misfire' code you mentioned is a big clue. Have you checked the coil's connector and wiring for any signs of damage or corrosion?
