Seat Inca starting issues

My 2003 Seat Inca with a gasoline engine is giving me grief. 162618 km on the clock. I reckon it's the ignition switch. Sometimes the engine won't start at all. Other times it shuts off mid-drive. And occasionally, it runs rough. Could be a defective fuse, but I'm not sure. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2003 Seat Inca with a gasoline engine is experiencing starting issues, sometimes failing to start or shutting off mid-drive, and occasionally running rough. The initial suspicion is a faulty ignition switch, but a defective fuse is also considered. After advice to check the starter motor, the problem is identified as a dodgy fuse linked to the ignition switch, which is replaced, resolving the issues. Further inspection of the ignition coil is planned to ensure complete resolution.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Inca. Have you checked the starter motor? That was the culprit for me.

Interesting. Was it completely dead, or just struggling to turn over? And did it affect the engine start in any way?

Yeah, it was completely dead. No engine start at all. I'd turn the ignition key, and nothing. I'd get it checked at a workshop before doing more damage.

Cheers for the advice. Turns out it was a dodgy fuse linked to the ignition switch. 52€ later and she's purring again. Seems to have sorted the rough running too. I'll check the ignition coil anyway.
