Seat Inca windshield wipers not working

I'm at my wit's end! My 2003 Seat Inca with a gasoline engine has developed a mind of its own, or rather, a lack of one. The windshield wipers have completely stopped working! I've scanned the error memory, and it's throwing a code pointing towards a defective cable or plug connection. The repair shop quoted me around 95€, but before I shell out the cash, I wanted to see if anyone else has encountered this. Could it really just be a dodgy connection in the steering column? I've checked the wiper blade arm and the wiper motor seems ok. Any ideas?

Windshield wipers acting up can be a pain. Had a similar issue with my old Opel Corsa a while back. Did you check the fuse for the car wipers? Seems obvious, but it's often overlooked. Have you tried wiggling the wires near the wiper motor while someone else tries the switch?

Interesting that you mention the wiper motor wires. Where exactly on the wiper motor should I be wiggling? And which fuse specifically controls the windshield wipers? There are so many!

Right, the fuse should be labeled in your owner's manual – usually under 'wipers' or 'windshield washer'. As for the wiper motor, gently wiggle the connector where the wires go in. But honestly, if the error code points to a connection issue and you're not comfortable digging deep, 95€ isn't a bad price. Is it worth the hassle of potentially making things worse? Probably best to let a workshop handle it.

I took your advice and brought it in. You were spot on! They found a faulty connection in the steering column, just like the error code suggested. New connector and labor, right on the 95€ estimate. Thanks for the guidance!
