It emits black smoke when accelerating, the engine light comes on and sometimes the engine just stops. Hey, I had the same problem with my 2013 Seat Ibiza, it was the turbocharger that was faulty and causing all the smoke and smell. I also had a bumpy engine and sometimes my car just gave up the ghost. At first I thought it was the rail pressure sensor, but it wasn't. I was lucky that the mechanic at my garage is really on his toes. Definitely not such a small problem, so you'd better get it checked quickly at a trustworthy garage. If I remember correctly, I had to fork out about €640 to fix the broken fuel pump. Since then, however, it's been running like clockwork - the rail pressure sensor problem, which was also under discussion, was fixed at the same time. So no more nasty surprises so far, fortunately!
