Seat Leon ABS Fault

My 2015 Seat Leon with a diesel engine is showing an ABS lamp on the dashboard. I have noticed a failure of the ABS system during braking. A diagnostic scan revealed a lateral acceleration sensor fault. Mileage is 92442 km. Could a defective control unit be the culprit? I've seen estimates of around 1000€ for this repair.

Lateral acceleration sensor fault? ABS lamp illuminating is certainly concerning. Does the traction control seem affected as well? I am wondering if it could be related to the steering angle sensor, or perhaps just a glitch in the electronic stability program. Has the diagnostic scan provided any specific error codes? Could be a wiring issue, but it's hard to say for sure.

The diagnostic scan did point to the lateral acceleration sensor specifically. I am trying to understand if a faulty steering angle sensor could trigger a lateral acceleration sensor fault or if I should really focus on the control unit itself. Any thoughts?

Okay, if the diagnostic scan specifically indicates the lateral acceleration sensor, it does seem like the control unit is the most likely cause, especially with the ABS failure symptoms. While a steering angle sensor issue could theoretically interact with the electronic stability system and indirectly affect the lateral acceleration readings, the direct fault code points towards the sensor itself or its associated circuitry within the control unit. Considering the potential cost, it might be wise to get a second opinion from a workshop, but it does sound like the initial assessment is accurate.

I took the Leon to a workshop. The diagnostic scan confirmed the lateral acceleration sensor fault within the electronic control unit. Unfortunately, the unit is defective and requires replacement. The repair cost is indeed around 1000€. Thanks for your insights.
