Seat Leon Alarm System Failure

Alright, car gurus, need some help! My 2009 Seat Leon diesel is giving me headaches. The anti-theft alarm system is completely dead. VCDS is throwing an error, but the actual alarm system isn't doing anything. I'm suspecting it's something with the alarm sensor or alarm control. Could this be related to the car alarm settings and the optical locking function I remember tweaking ages ago?

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Leon a while back. Is your alarm system also linked to the indicators when locking or unlocking? That's what screwed mine up.

Interesting! How did you figure out that it was the indicator thing causing the problem? Did you also get that 'alarm control' error?

Yep, same 'alarm control' error message. A mechanic told me it's a common issue when the alarm system is incorrectly coded to use the indicators for visual confirmation. Basically, it creates a power failure situation for the alarm system. Definitely get it checked out at a workshop; they can recode it in minutes.

Big thanks for the info! Went to the workshop, and you called it. The alarm system was coded to activate optical locking which caused a power failure. Recoding it fixed everything. Cost me 45€ – well worth it! Appreciate the help!
