The infotainment system seems to be working as expected, radio and navigation work. Battery voltage is also normal. Could a fault in the steering or transmission systems cause such a malfunction indirectly?

Given that the infotainment and battery seem fine, and steering/transmission issues are unlikely to cause Bluetooth problems directly, it does point towards a more specific issue within the infotainment system itself. It might be best to have a workshop diagnose it. Your estimated repair cost of 45€ seems reasonable for a software-related fix.

I appreciate your input. The workshop confirmed a software issue related to the Bluetooth module. A reflash of the unit corrected the fault. The cost was indeed 45€. Everything is working correctly now.

A malfunctioning Bluetooth module? That sounds like it could stem from several things. Is the infotainment system itself operating normally, or are you experiencing other electrical faults? Have you checked the vehicle's battery voltage recently? A weak battery can cause all sorts of seemingly unrelated issues in modern cars.
