Where exactly is this interior temperature sensor located, and how involved is it to check the connection?

On mine, the sensor was behind the little grille near the climate controls on the dash. It's accessible but fiddly. If you're not comfortable poking around, getting the sensor diagnostics done professionally might be the way to go. Could save you some headaches.

Thanks for the insight. Took it to a shop, turned out the interior temperature sensor was faulty, like you suspected. Sensor replacement plus diagnostics came to 95€. Climate control is working again.

Sounds like a familiar problem. I had similar climate issues with my Leon. The automatic temperature reading went haywire, and the air con wouldn't kick in. Have you checked the sensor connections? Sometimes it's just a loose plug.
