Seat Leon diesel engine issue

I am experiencing a rather concerning issue with my 2018 Seat Leon (diesel engine). The check engine light illuminates intermittently, and the engine stalls at idle. I scanned for error codes, and it appears there is a problem with the fuel mixture – like it thinks there is the wrong fuel inside. Could a defective fuel filter be the reason for this kind of symptoms? Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Seat Leon with a diesel engine experienced intermittent check engine light activation and engine stalling at idle, with error codes indicating a fuel mixture issue. A possible cause suggested was a defective fuel filter or poor fuel quality. The problem was resolved by identifying and replacing a defective plug connection, restoring the car's performance.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Leon. Check the fuel quality and maybe replace the fuel filter. When the wrong fuel gets into the combustion chamber, it messes everything up.

Thanks for the quick response! When you say 'similar issue,' do you mean the engine stalled at idle and the check engine light was on too? Did you also have an error stored in the error memory? And what exactly do you mean with fuel quality, as I always take the standard diesel at the gas station.

Yes, same symptoms. Check engine light, stalling. The error memory also had a message about the fuel mixture. By fuel quality I mean if somehow wrong fuel ended up in the tank. I would recommend going to a workshop to check the cable or plug connection of the component if you can't find anything visibly wrong yourself. They should be able to diagnose it quickly.

Thank you so much! That's exactly the information I needed. I took it to the workshop, and they found a defective plug connection. They replaced it, and the car is running perfectly again. The repair cost was 95€. Appreciate the help!
