Seat Leon Diesel Engine Issues

My 2022 Seat Leon with a diesel engine is showing some concerning symptoms. The preheating lamp doesn't switch off, the check engine light is illuminated, and there's smoke when accelerating. I've read that a defective glow control unit could be the cause, possibly due to a faulty cable or plug connection. The car has 100000 km. Any thoughts on this?

I had a similar issue with my Leon, although it's an older model. The engine light came on, and I experienced some vehicle stalling. Have you checked the glow plugs themselves? Sometimes a faulty glow plug can trigger the engine light and affect the diesel engine's performance.

I appreciate your input. I visually inspected the glow plugs and they seemed okay. Could a defective cable or plug connection really cause all these symptoms?

Yes, a defective cable or plug connection to the glow control unit can definitely cause those symptoms. It happened to me. The engine light, the smoke... all of it. It's best to have a workshop check it. Might save you from a bigger problem later.

Thank you for the advice. It turned out to be a defective glow control unit, just as you suspected. The cable and plug connections were indeed faulty. The repair cost was 95€.
