Seat Leon Diesel Fuel Consumption and Starting Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Seat Leon diesel is experiencing increased fuel consumption and starting difficulties. The initial suspicion is a defective throttle valve, with consideration given to throttle cleaning. However, the issue is ultimately traced to a faulty accelerator pedal module, which was affecting the signal to the engine. Replacing the module resolved the problem.

Did cleaning the throttle help in your case, or did you have to do something else? Also, where exactly is the control valve located? I'm not super familiar with the air intake system on these.

Cleaning helped a bit, but the problem came back. Eventually, the garage said the accelerator pedal module was faulty. It was messing with the signal to the engine. Might be worth getting it checked out professionally before you spend too much time on it yourself.

Got it sorted. It was the accelerator pedal module, like we suspected. Cost 205€ to get it replaced. Thanks for the heads up!

I had a similar issue with my Leon. Higher fuel consumption and a bit sluggish on start. Have you tried any car throttle or air intake cleaning? It might be a sticky control valve. It’s worth a shot before spending money.
