Seat Leon Diesel fuel level sensor fault

I am writing to seek assistance with a problem I am experiencing with my 2012 Seat Leon diesel. The vehicle has approximately 196051 km on the odometer. Recently, the check engine light illuminated, and I have noticed that the engine occasionally stalls at idle. Upon connecting an OBD2 scanner, an error related to the fuel level sensor was stored in the error memory. I have checked the fuel cap to ensure it is properly sealed. I was also considering checking the relevant fuse, if one exists, but I am unsure of its location. Could this be related to the fuel gauge or the fuel system? Any guidance on diagnosing this fuel level sensor fault would be greatly appreciated.

I had a similar issue with my Leon. Check the fuel sensor, could be a faulty sensor or a bad connection. Have you checked the error codes?

Thanks for your reply! When you say 'similar issue', do you mean the engine also stalled at idle, or just the fuel gauge showing the wrong level? And where exactly is the fuel sensor located? I'm not very experienced with car repairs.

Yes, the engine stalling was part of it. The fuel gauge was also erratic. I'm no mechanic but I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They'll pinpoint the issue with the fuel sensor and the fuel system. Could save you time and money in the long run.

The problem is now resolved. It turned out to be a faulty fuel level sensor. The workshop replaced it, and the total cost was 52€. Thanks for your help and advice!
