Seat Leon Door Lock Issue

I am writing to describe an issue I am encountering with my 2003 Seat Leon equipped with a Gasoline engine. The vehicle has approximately 183623 km on the odometer. I am experiencing a problem with the driver's side door. Specifically, the door can no longer be locked or unlocked using either the key fob or the interior lock switch. I suspect that a faulty door contact signal is the root cause. Could this be due to a defective cable or plug connection, specifically within the door sensor or door latch assembly? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Summary of the thread

The issue with the 2003 Seat Leon involves the driver's side door not locking or unlocking via the key fob or interior switch. The suspected cause is a faulty door contact signal, potentially due to a defective cable or plug connection within the door sensor or latch assembly. A similar problem was resolved by addressing a faulty door latch and integrated door sensor. A local mechanic confirmed the issue was a defective cable in the door latch mechanism, and after repair, the automatic locks functioned correctly.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds like a dodgy door latch. I had something similar happen with my Leon. The automatic locks went haywire because the car couldn't tell if the driver's door was properly shut. Is it only happening on one door, or are all the doors affected?

Thanks for your reply. It is currently only happening on the driver's door. The other doors lock and unlock normally. Was it definitely the door latch or perhaps something related to the door switch or a car sensor issue?

Yep, sounds exactly like what I experienced. The workshop diagnosed it as a faulty door latch and a problem with the integrated door sensor. It's probably best to get it checked out by a professional to be sure. They can test the door switch and the wiring.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. A local mechanic found a defective cable within the door latch mechanism, just as you suspected. The door sensor was indeed the culprit. The repair cost 95€. All automatic locks now work as expected. A faulty door contact signal is now a thing of the past.
