Seat Leon Hybrid Air Conditioning Problem

My 2021 Seat Leon hybrid is having air conditioning problems. The AC no longer cools, and the system doesn't even seem to switch on. The car has 93940 km on it. I suspect a defect in individual valves in the air conditioning system. Any ideas?

I am sorry to hear about the air conditioning malfunction in your vehicle. It sounds rather inconvenient. From your description, a few things come to mind. First, have you noticed any unusual AC noise prior to the complete failure? Sometimes a failing compressor can make quite a racket. Also, it might be worthwhile to verify the blower motor is functioning correctly. If the blower motor isn’t pushing air across the evaporator core, even a perfectly functioning AC system will feel like it’s not working. Finally, AC diagnostics typically involve checking the refrigerant level and system pressure. Low refrigerant can prevent the system from activating. Please note that refrigerant handling requires specialized equipment due to environmental regulations.

Thanks for the detailed reply. By 'AC noise' do you mean a constant sound or only when I turn on the AC? And how can I check the blower motor is working?

Regarding the AC noise, I was referring to unusual sounds that occur specifically when the air conditioning compressor is engaged. This could manifest as a rattling, squealing, or grinding sound. As for the blower motor, you can typically verify its functionality by adjusting the fan speed setting on your temperature control panel. You should be able to hear and feel the airflow increase and decrease as you adjust the speed. If there is no change in airflow, the blower motor or its associated resistor may be faulty. However, given that the entire system seems non-operational, including the compressor, and you suspect a valve issue, it would be prudent to seek professional AC diagnostics at a qualified workshop. They have the necessary equipment and expertise to pinpoint the exact cause.

Thanks for the input. I followed your advice and took it to a certified mechanic. They confirmed the AC issue was indeed with faulty valves in the cooling system. Repair cost me 1000€, but at least it's fixed now.
