Hissing sounds, you say? I haven't specifically listened for that. Where exactly should I be checking around the air intake? Any particular spot prone to leaks?

Listen closely around where the air supply hose connects to the air valve, and also where it connects to the pump. A small crack can cause a big vacuum leak, messing with the manifold pressure readings. If you're not comfortable poking around, might be worth a quick trip to a workshop. They can diagnose it properly. It sounds like what I experienced and it was a quick fix at the shop.

It was the air valve. Faulty hose connection caused a vacuum leak. Replacement cost 175€. Check engine light is gone. Thanks for the insight.

I had a similar issue with my Leon, though it's an earlier model. Check engine light kept popping up. Have you checked for any hissing sounds around the air intake? Could be a vacuum leak affecting the manifold pressure.
