Hesitating, you say? Yes, now that you mention it, the gear selector does feel a bit off sometimes. What exactly was the problem with your control module? Was it a straightforward fix?

Well, it presented in a similar fashion – powertrain malfunction, limp mode, the works. The fault codes pointed to the ABS system, which in turn was messing with the transfer case. Honestly, it's a bit beyond my expertise to explain the specifics. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop and mentioning the possible ABS connection. Is it still under warranty perhaps?

As you suggested, it was something to do with the ABS control module triggering the powertrain malfunction. They recalibrated it, and all fault codes are gone. No cost, all covered under warranty. Thanks for the heads up!

That sounds awfully similar to an issue I had with my Leon. Is your gear selector acting up at all? Mine was hesitating before going into drive. The symptoms you describe, slipping and unclean shifts, scream control module to me. Have you checked for any fault codes?
