Seat Leon Hybrid Overheating Issues
Summary of the thread
A Seat Leon Hybrid with 127,300 km is experiencing significant engine overheating, particularly in traffic. The issue is suspected to be related to the electric fan not activating properly for cooling. A possible cause is a faulty connection in the electric fan cable or plug, which may appear melted or corroded. The recommended solution is to have the electric fan connection checked and repaired at a workshop to prevent further damage.

Fan clutch eh? Is that a common issue on these? And what exactly should I be looking for with the electric fan cable? Any telltale signs of a dodgy connection?

Yeah, fan clutch issues do crop up, but with your symptoms, definitely focus on that electric fan connection first. If it's like mine was, the plug looked a bit melted and the wire was corroded. Best get it checked at a workshop; don't want to risk further damage to the electric motor or anything else with the temperature control.

Just wanted to say thanks a million for the heads up! Took it to the garage and you were spot on – dodgy connection on the electric fan. They sorted it for 95€. Seriously thought it was gonna be way worse with the electric motor being involved and all that temperature control stuff. Dodged a bullet there!

Sounds familiar. Had similar overheating with my Leon's engine cooling. Check the fan clutch and electric fan itself. The electric fan cable or plug connection might be defective.
