Seat Leon oil level sensor issue

I'm officially losing my mind with my 2010 Seat Leon gasoline engine. I keep getting this "Check Oil Level!" error flashing up on the dash, and the oil pressure light sometimes joins in. I've scanned it with my OBD reader, and it's throwing up a code related to the oil level sensor signal being faulty. I'm guessing it's a dodgy sensor or wiring issue, but the repair cost is estimated at 95€! Has anyone else had this happen? Could it really just be a defective cable or plug connection?

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had a similar scare with my Seat Ibiza, but the error was intermittent. That oil light is like a heart attack waiting to happen, right? Have you checked the simple stuff like the oil level itself and the sensor connector? That's usually the culprit.

Yeah, I checked the oil level first thing - it's spot on. And I gave the sensor plug a wiggle, but no luck. When you say "sensor connector", are you talking about where the wire plugs into the sensor itself? Or is there another connection point I should be looking for?

Yep, exactly where the wire plugs into the sensor. On my Ibiza, the connection looked fine at first glance, but it was corroded inside. I'd say take it to a workshop so they can check it with proper tools. It's probably just that as you suspected, and that's also what the error code says. It's not worth risking engine damage over a bad oil signal.

Thanks a million for the heads up! Sounds like I was barking up the right tree with the wiring. Took it to the shop this morning, and you nailed it – dodgy connection! 95€ later and the Leon is purring like a kitten again. No more annoying lights or beeps! Really appreciate your help!
