Seat Leon oxygen sensor issue

I've got a bit of a head scratcher with my 2020 Seat Leon, hybrid engine, done about 108335 km. The check engine light is on, and I'm getting an error stored related to the oxygen sensor heater. I've noticed higher fuel consumption recently too. I suspect it might be a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on where to start? The malfunction indicator is driving me crazy.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Vauxhall Insignia. The check engine light kept coming on. Turned out to be the oxygen sensor heater element. Have you tried sensor testing?

Sensor testing? What does that involve? And how did you eventually fix your Insignia?

Sensor testing involves checking the voltage and resistance of the heater element. I didn't do it myself, honestly. The garage diagnosed it. They confirmed it was the heater element, likely a broken wire. I'd recommend getting it properly diagnosed at a workshop. It's probably something similar.

Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on! Defective cable connection to the oxygen sensor. They replaced the cable and plug, cleared the error, and the check engine light is gone. Air-fuel ratio seems back to normal too. Cost me 95€. Thanks for the help!
