Wiring harness on the tailgate itself? Was the fault on your BMW also related to the sensor wiring, or a different component?

Yes, the BMW issue was related to the sensor wiring within the tailgate. Given that diagnostics point to a defective connection, it's certainly worth investigating. However, if you lack experience with vehicle electrics, seeking professional diagnosis might prevent further complications. It could save time and potentially money compared to attempting the repair yourself.

It was the hall sensor cable. Cost 95€ at the workshop and the tailgate is working again. Thanks for the advice.

I had a similar issue with my BMW a while back. The automatic tailgate would only open partially, and there was a sensor fault logged. Did you check the wiring harness for any visible damage or corrosion? It might be worth a look before assuming the sensor itself is faulty.
