Seat Mii Electronic Parking Brake Issue

I am writing to report a malfunction with the electronic parking brake in my 2018 Seat Mii with a gasoline engine, which has covered 126839 km. The electronic handbrake is currently non-functional, and an error code has been stored in the error memory, accompanied by a warning light displayed on the speedometer. Initial diagnostics suggest a defective electric motor within the brake caliper as the likely cause. The estimated repair cost is 505€. I would appreciate any insights or suggestions regarding this matter.

I had a similar issue with my Seat Mii. The electronic brake warning light came on, and the parking brake stopped working. It could be a faulty brake switch, but in my case, it was the electric motor in the brake caliper. If you have the same problem, you will probably need a new motor.

Thanks for the quick reply. Can you provide more details about your experience? Did you also have an error code stored in the memory, and was the electric motor the only component that needed replacement, or were there other issues with the brake control?

Yes, I did have an error code, and the garage confirmed it was the motor. They only replaced the motor in the brake caliper, and that fixed the problem. I would recommend taking it to a workshop to be sure. A brake failure is not something you want to risk.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. It sounds like I'm facing a similar problem. I've decided to follow your suggestion and schedule an appointment with my local garage. The estimated repair cost aligns with what they quoted, so I'm proceeding with the replacement of the electric motor in the brake caliper. Thank you again for your help.
