Seat Mii Fuel Flap Issue

Right, I'm officially stumped. My 2011 Seat Mii with a gasoline engine is giving me headaches. The fuel flap release has completely stopped working. I'm getting an error stored in the error memory, and it's impossible to lock or unlock the fuel filler flap. It's also affecting some other functions. I've done some digging and the most likely cause seems to be a defective linkage (if even present). Anyone else had this happen?

Summary of the thread

The 2011 Seat Mii is experiencing a fuel flap release issue, with both the internal release button and key fob failing to operate the flap. The problem is likely due to a defective linkage or a failed release mechanism, possibly involving a jammed component or a burnt-out solenoid motor. Checking the central locking system's fuse is suggested, but given the complexity and other affected functions, professional diagnostic tools at a workshop are recommended to accurately identify and resolve the issue. Ultimately, the problem was confirmed to be the fuel door release mechanism, which was repaired at a workshop.

Sounds like a pain! I had something similar happen on my old Passat, though it was the central locking playing up. Have you checked the fuse for the central locking system? Sometimes that can cause weird issues with the fuel door release since they're often linked. Also, does the release button inside the car work, or is it just the key fob that's failing? Knowing that might narrow down the problem.

Good shout on the fuse, I'll check that tomorrow. The release button inside the car doesn't work either, which is what's really bugging me. Could it still be the fuse if both the button AND the key fob aren't working? Thought they might be separate circuits.

Okay, if the release button AND the key fob are both dead, and the error is stored, it's less likely to be just a fuse (though still worth checking!). Sounds more like the release mechanism itself has failed. Sometimes they get jammed or the solenoid motor burns out. Given that some other functions are also affected, it might be something more complex with the car's computer. Honestly, at this point, I'd probably bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. They'll have the diagnostic tools to pinpoint the exact problem and replace the faulty part. Could save you a lot of time and frustration in the long run.

Just wanted to close the loop on this. Took it to the shop and they confirmed it was the fuel door release mechanism. 210€ later and it's working perfectly again. Thanks for your help!
