Seat Mii refusing to start engine control malfunction

Alright, seeking some help. My 2013 Seat Mii with a gasoline engine is refusing to start. I'm getting an engine control malfunction warning. The engine light is on but it just won't crank. I'm suspecting it might be either an ECU failure, an ECU issue related to the engine software, or something with the engine diagnostics. Any ideas before I start tearing things apart?

I had a similar thing with my Seat Mii. Check the battery cable connections. Sounds simple, but that fixed it for me. Is the engine light on?

Interesting. When you mention battery cable connections, what exactly did you do, or did you have to get it sorted at a workshop? And yes, the engine light is on.

I didn't do anything myself. The engine light was on in my Mii too, but I wasn't confident to fix it myself, so I took it straight to a workshop. They cleaned the connections and it was fine. It might be worth getting yours checked out professionally. Could save you from a bigger headache.

Just wanted to let you know, you were right. The garage confirmed the battery connections were the problem. They cleaned them, and it started immediately. It was 155€ for the diagnostics and cleaning. Thanks for the help!
